Description

The purpose of this organization is to encourage regular physical activity and understanding of its health benefits by members of the ISU campus and the Ames, IA community. A secondary aim of Exercise is Medicine on Campus is to encourage health care providers to include physical activity as a ‘vital sign,’ including the consideration and recommendation of physical activity when designing treatment plans. Exercise is Medicine on Campus is committed to the belief that physical activity is integral in the prevention and treatment of disease and should be a part of medical care. Exercise is Medicine on Campus ambassadors will be active volunteers at events to help communicate this message. This organization is directly affiliated with the Iowa State University Department of Kinesiology and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Allowed Members Membership shall be open to all registered students in good standing at Iowa State University and all affiliated faculty and staff members.
Allowed Officers The officers of this organization must meet the following requirements: (a)Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six credits hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring.
Membership Qualifications Iowa State University student
Membership Restrictions Not on academic probation,
Elections/Selection Officers will be elected from among the members of the Leadership Team. Elections will be held by a confidential online survey tool (Qualtrics). A simple majority will determine office winners.
Meetings Once a month

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Regular meetings involve discussing current volunteer opportunities. Volunteer opportunities are offered every week. There are also social events for members.

Description of Special Events

Special events include campus and community programs and events.
