Growing to Give is a student lead greenhouse project that helps fight food insecurity in the Ames area.

Starting Fall 2020 student will grow familiar, nutrient dense crops in the Forestry Greenhouse, managed by volunteers. All produce will be properly harvested, prepared for storage, and delivered to a local food bank, Food at First, to be distributed to those in need. Fresh produce donations leave a massive gap in the winter at food banks, and many Ames residents struggle to afford nutritious food options - especially with new challenges brought on by COVID-19. We hope by utilizing campus greenhouses we can help fill in this gap.
