Description
The Gaffer's Guild is dedicated to education and training in the art and science of glassblowing. We offer half-semester long classes to students and community members and have open studio hours for members. We perform demos for the community and school groups and have visits from professionals several times a year. We hold periodic sales to sustain the club and repair equipment.

Membership Qualifications |
Iowa State University students. Undergrads must have a minimum GPA of a 2.0. Grad Students minimum GPA is a 3.0 |
Membership Restrictions |
Must be in good standing with the university and enrolled at least half time while in office. |
Elections/Selection |
New members are selected by new member meetings at the beginning of the fall, spring, and summer. The new members must submit their email to our waiting list prior to attending the new member meeting. At the new member meeting, the prospective new member will find out if they are able to take the class. Officer elections take place around the start/end of the semester at general meetings. |
Meetings |
General Meetings are held at least once at the beginning of the semester, and there are generally several throughout. Exec meetings occur once a month. |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
General meetings consist of discussing any new business. This is typically art sales, studio upkeep, tool inventory, or any other club business. Regular activities throughout the week consists of glassblowing. |
Description of Special Events
Art sales are held throughout the semester on campus. The revenue generated is used to help lower member dues. |
