Elections/Selection |
This organization designates the following official positions up for annual elections: President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Election of officers will be held during the month of April using a secret ballot and will require a simple majority vote from the general membership. If a candidate fails to receive a simple majority of votes, a run-off election will be held between the two top candidates that received the most votes. This run-off election will occur within one week of the previous vote.
All candidates must be nominated for candidacy either by another member or by her or himself. Additionally, the candidate must accept this nomination either in person or in writing to the presiding president within 24 hours of said nomination in order to be placed on the ballot.

Meetings |
The organization will hold regular meetings during the academic year. The president is obligated to inform the general membership within the first three weeks of each semester when these meetings will occur. |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
CAPS will hold at least one all-member meeting during each Fall and Spring semester. The meeting dates will be set according to the members’ availability as determined by a poll of active members at the beginning of each semester. In this meeting, we shall discuss potential events and speakers with the general membership. Additional all-member meetings will be held if needed to discuss important departmental or organizational updates.

Description of Special Events
CAPS will host one or two talks from outside speakers per year (as long as funding permits). These speakers will give either a research talk related to cognitive psychology or will provide non-academic expertise relevant to Cognitive Psychology students. These events will be planned by the CAPS executive board. |
