Description
The Oral Health Education Club (OHEC) is dedicated to educating and highlighting the importance of oral health by providing people with the tools to do so. Each semester, our organization takes donated oral hygiene products (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, etc) from dental practices and donates them to areas needing dental supplies. This includes, and is not limited to, the Ames Boys and Girls Club, elementary schools in the Ames area, and the ISU student population. In addition, our club will provide opportunities to learn more about oral health by students dedicated and pursuing a career in the dental field.

We will meet each month to discuss progress on acquiring donated supplies, social events about dentistry, and other topics prominent in the dental field. |
Description of Regular Meetings/Activities
We will have meetings every month (unless discussed otherwise in which there will be two in one month). Each semester, we will organize an Oral Health Education Day at the Ames Boys and Girls Club to distribute dental supplies and talk with the children about the importance of good dental care. We will also be distributing dental supplies to the Iowa State student body on World Oral Health Day in the month of March. In October, our club will volunteer at Iowa Mission of Mercy, IMOM, to continue serving others needing dental care. |
