Iowa State’s PCMA Student Chapter is a regional branch off of PCMA, which is the world’s largest, most respected and recognized network of business event strategist. PCMA Student Chapter is a part of an international association. The principle purpose of the Student Chapter shall be to familiarize its members with the basic concepts of the meetings and events industry through educational and networking opportunities supported and/or developed by PCMA and its members. Membership Restrictions
Elections/Selection Elections will be held once a year at the end of January. Members will need to submit an application, which will be reviewed by the executive board. Once the executive board has reviewed the applications, qualified applicants will be chosen by the executive board and give a 1 minute speech at a chapter meeting. The chapter will then hold a vote for the new executive members.
Meetings Meetings will be held bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings, typically from 5-6pm.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Throughout the first semester, meetings will mainly be focused on completely the PCMA Global Student Competition project. Depending on the number of members in the chapter, members may be sorted into teams to enter the competition. Other meeting activities will include assistance with applying for PCMA scholarships, PCMA professional guest speakers, professional development workshops (resume upkeep, LinkedIn improvement, networking help), and planning a fundraising event to help send students to the Convening Leaders convention in the winter.
