Academic - Pre-Professional

Description

Meetings will generally be held once a month on evenings of weekdays. The activities of each meeting will vary, but will aim to further our primary goal of preparing members for the pharmacy school application process. Activities include speaking to current pharmacy school rotation students, discussing application requirements, and sharing opportunities for volunteering and job shadowing. In addition, pharmacy school representatives come to Iowa State to share information specific to their application process and requirements.

Allowed Members Anyone interested in or curious about pursuing a career in pharmacy
Allowed Officers Individuals who are elected at the end of each academic year.
Membership Qualifications Anyone interested in a future career in pharmacy is qualified to be a member of Pre-Pharmacy club.
Membership Restrictions Members are required to be enrolled students at Iowa State University.
Elections/Selection Yearly elections are held at the end of each spring semester. Elected officers hold their positions for a full academic year following elections.
Meetings Meetings are typically held monthly.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Meeting activities will vary. Some typical activities include: -Hearing from and speaking with current pharmacy school students, often those in their fourth year on rotations -Hearing from and speaking with pharmacists in different disciplines of pharmacy -Sharing information about application requirements for pharmacy school -Sharing volunteering and job shadowing opportunities available for students who want to get a hands-on experience learning about what a pharmacist does.

Description of Special Events

-Visits to nearby pharmacy schools to find out more information about the school, take a tour of it, etc. -Visits from admissions representatives at various pharmacy schools.
