Description

The mission of Engineers' Week at Iowa State University is to involve the College in a celebration of engineering that encompasses all students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The goals of the week are to provide students the opportunity to interact with fellow students, faculty, and company representatives in both a professional and social manner, to educate the public about engineering and to provide service to the community.

Allowed Officers Engineering students with prior leadership experience
Membership Qualifications Officer and subcommittee members are evaluated in the hiring process based on years of leadership and project management experience. Prior experience in E-Week as an ambassador or subcommittee member is preferred but not required.
Membership Restrictions None, although all members are expected to maintain >2.0 GPA and act as a representative of the college's standards.
Elections/Selection Officer and group leader positions are opened to the general CoE student body every year starting in early March. It is an interviewing process.
Meetings E-Week planning meetings are weekly throughout the spring semester. E-Week execution is the 4th week of February and the weeks leading up to it may require multiple meetings. There are wrap-up meetings in early March.

Description of Regular Meetings/Activities

Extensive project management focus on weekly meetings to plan and execute a series of events. Open discussions amongst executives on budget, resources, processes for project management. Focused discussions on conjoined theme, advertising, public relations, and partners of E-Week.

Description of Special Events

Featured national speaker in the area of engineering/science. Recent speakers of note include: Grant Imahara (2010), Bill Nye (2012), and Michio Kaku (2014).
Host a prospective student event for the college called Senior Visitation. Over 100 prospective students and their parent(s) attend.
Host 3-4 lunch events that include educational partnerships with engineering companies, engineering student groups, or engineering research groups. Lunch is free to engineering students and provides a great opportunity to learn more about ways they can be engaged in the college or with companies.
